Webmaster training in Gibraltar
KDS Gibraltar Summer School
Summer School
Karate-Do Shotokai Gibraltar's Summer Karate School, is taking place in Gibraltar all this week. Training is under the guidance of Sensei Mitsusuke Harada.
Bristol Shotokan Karate's webmaster is lucky enough to be able to attend.
Sensei Mario Sampere was the course instructor for the week, with Sensei Giovanni Sampere helping Mario demonstrate the techniques being practiced and developed.
The session started with Taikyoku Shodan (Kihon) kata [1]. Following a warm up by Kenneth Golt.
This was followed by practicing the blocks gedan barai, soto uke, age uke, and uchi uke. Each of these practices was done with a partner, who provided a mirror image of each block as it was performed moving up and down the dojo. Between these practices Sensei Harada, emphasised certain points, and drawing out the importance of structure.
Sensei Harada, used Sensei Frank DaCosta, Sensei Marie Kellett and a visiting Sensei, to illustrate that correct stance makes for a much more effective blocking technique.
The course photo can be seen on Friday.
Read the Webmasters next installment tomorrow.
